Present Board policy targets 50% of grant funds to the Amon Carter Museum and 50% to general grants. Applying organizations must qualify for exemption under Section 501(c)(3) or other appropriate sections of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. No loans or grants are made to individuals. Grants are basically directed to the Fort Worth/Tarrant County, Texas area. Primary fields of interest include the arts; education; health and medical services; human and social services; programs benefiting youth and elderly; civic and community endeavors that enhance quality of life. Grants in other fields and geographic areas are considered on an individual basis and are frequently initiated within the Foundation.
